Minecraft BE Preview 26.30.27 Released
The latest Minecraft Bedrock Preview brings the final batch of Chaos Cubed features to testing. Sulfur cubes now absorb magma blocks for a hot new archetype, sulfur springs got a visual overhaul, and a new slow bouncy archetype rounds out the sulfur cube's moveset.
Sulfur Cube: New Archetypes
Two new archetypes join the sulfur cube's roster. Feeding it a magma block creates the Hot archetype, which deals contact damage to any entity that touches it. It won't set things on fire or make nearby mobs aggressive, but it adds a defensive option to an otherwise passive mob.
The Slow Bouncy archetype triggers when a sulfur cube absorbs stone-type blocks. It bounces slower but hits harder with higher knockback resistance. This reshuffles the existing archetypes too: the Regular archetype now only covers dirt-type blocks and concrete powder. Sulfur cubes can also be affected by Oozing now, and using a spawn egg on one produces a baby.
Sulfur Springs Redesign
Sulfur springs got a significant visual upgrade. They're larger, more varied in shape and block composition, and tuff now generates around them. Potent sulfur inside springs is no longer inert and actively produces noxious gas and erupts periodically. Springs are also now restricted to flatter terrain for more natural-looking generation.
Sulfur Caves Adjustments
- Tuff and granite removed from sulfur caves in favor of more sulfur, increasing pool spawn chances
- Water fog in sulfur caves is now green instead of blue
- Caves are less likely to generate under oceans or in mountainous terrain
- Chiseled sulfur and cinnabar can now be crafted from slabs
- Sulfur and cinnabar blocks now have a blast resistance of 6 instead of 3
A range of new sounds have been added across the board, including unique audio for the Hot and Slow Bouncy archetypes, updated noxious gas sounds, a landing sound for small sulfur cubes, and refreshed sulfur spring ambient audio.
