Minecraft Bedrock Preview 26.40.30 finally lets players sit down without needing an addon or a clever redstone trick. The update adds a proper Cushion item, along with a disposable Straw Bed and several Dappled Forest fixes. The rollout starts later today and may take some time to reach all platforms.

You Can Finally Sit

The Cushion is a new placeable item you can interact with to sit on, no mods or workarounds required. It comes in 16 wool colors and is crafted from 3 wool slabs of the same color. It attaches to the grid horizontally but sits on top of whatever surface supports it vertically, can't be moved once placed, and breaks if the block underneath is removed. Cushions have no collision, so they can overlap with other objects, just not with each other.

There's a known issue where cushions aren't yet generating naturally in Abandoned Camps despite that being the intended spawn location. For now, you can only get them from the creative inventory.

Straw Bed

The Straw Bed lets you skip the night without setting your spawn point. It's single-use and gets destroyed after sleeping in it once. It doesn't work in the Nether or the End and will break if you try. Crafting 3 hay bales gives you 4 straw beds. They now generate naturally inside Abandoned Camps as well.

Dappled Forest and Abandoned Camp Updates

  • Abandoned Camps now also generate in Pale Garden and Flower Forest biomes
  • Abandoned Camps now place procedural trees and had incorrect potion names fixed in their loot tables
  • Dappled Forest fog settings now match other forest biomes
  • Poplar leaves got updated MER textures and an opaque version to fix a black background rendering bug
  • Poplar door and sign textures were corrected to match other wood sets
  • New ambient sounds added for poplar leaves and red shrubs

Other Fixes

Wool stairs and slabs now have their missing crafting recipes added. Azalea and flowering azalea are no longer see-through from below, and brown and red mushrooms can no longer be placed outdoors at night. A miscolored pixel in one of the sulfur spike textures has also been fixed.
