Minecraft Bedrock Preview 26.40.31 is a smaller patch, but it includes a notable change to Arrows of Harming that will affect some existing mob farms, along with a batch of stability fixes.

Arrows of Harming No Longer Bounce

Arrows of Harming no longer ricochet off entities and are now properly removed after a hit. Mojang addressed this directly in a developer's note, acknowledging that some mob farms relied on the old bouncing behavior to kill mobs indefinitely with a single arrow. The bug stemmed from a deeper issue in how the projectile system processed its sub-components, and fixing it at that level removed the exploit as a side effect. The team said they weren't comfortable preserving an unintended mechanic that let one arrow rack up infinite kills without despawning, so the fix is staying even though it breaks some existing builds.

Stability and Performance

Several gameplay crashes have been resolved in this build. A bug that prevented Vibrant Visuals from being enabled on certain devices due to an incorrect device tier detection has also been fixed. On the Marketplace side, skin and Character Creator packs installed while browsing the catalog are now automatically cleaned up using a least-recently-used policy, which should reduce disk usage and improve load times over time.
