Minecraft Preview 26.70.21 Adds Packed Ice Bricks and Music Features
Minecraft Bedrock Beta and Preview 26.70.21 is out with more content from the fourth game drop of 2026. This build adds Packed Ice Bricks, reworks several ice cave mobs and items, and brings the Music Features Add-On into the game, which includes the Disc Press and the Pocket Jukebox. Preview is available on Xbox, PlayStation, Windows, and iOS, and the beta is on Android through Google Play.
Packed Ice Bricks
Packed Ice Bricks are a new blue-tinted brick set for building. The blocks are purely decorative, do not melt, and are best mined with a pickaxe. Mojang is still finalizing their naming, instrument sounds, Creative inventory placement, and waterlogged behavior, so some details may change before release.
Ice Caves and Mobs
- Players can now fall into the caves below crevasses when Brittle Ice breaks
- Crevasses generate more consistently in Ice Caves with different ceiling heights
- Cows, pigs, chickens, and frogs spawn as cold variants from spawn eggs in Ice Caves
- Frostbites no longer spawn naturally underground outside Ice Caves, and they hold shields like other zombies
- Polar bears, snow golems, and strays are immune to the Freezing effect, and polar bears can no longer spawn on Brittle Ice
- Wither skeletons can pick up ice balls, and the ice ball's base damage is now 2, dropping as it loses speed
- Potions of Freezing can be extended with redstone dust
- Ice blocks have ambient sounds, and Packed, Blue, and Frosted Ice now use their own sound events instead of glass sounds
Music Features Add-On
The free Music Features Add-On is now built into the game. Add its resource pack to a world to use the features, and a matching behavior pack is added too. It does not work with Realms yet.
- Blank Discs: craftable discs that you press music onto
- Disc Press: a new block that turns Blank Discs into Track Discs. The Preview version includes the main menu songs, and if the press looks empty, restarting the game fixes it
- Track Discs: made in the Disc Press and played in a jukebox or a Pocket Jukebox
- Pocket Jukebox: a portable item that holds up to 20 Track Discs or vanilla music discs. Only the player carrying it hears the music. Its color comes from the bundle used to craft it, and you can dye it afterward
Gameplay and Mob Changes
- Frost Walker now freezes water in a circle around you instead of a directional trail, and only while you are on the ground
- Mining Fatigue, Haste, and Conduit Power now change mining speed by the same amounts as Java Edition
- Guardian base damage rises from 5 to 6, and Elder Guardian damage from 5 to 8
- Damage from mob-fired projectiles and evoker fangs now scales with difficulty, matching Java
- Honey blocks support blocks on every face again
- Breaking a cushion or armor stand near a sculk catalyst no longer spreads sculk
- The freezing overlay no longer lingers after respawning, and the health bar updates correctly when a Totem of Undying activates
- Spyglasses and other items in continuous use stop being used after you go through a portal
Fixes and Polish
- Fixed worlds not saving correctly when the game is suspended or closed
- Fixed a crash that could happen after staying in menus for a long time
- Fixed add-on imports creating folders with trailing periods that Windows cannot open
- Arabic and Persian text now shows joined letters and right-to-left order in chat, signs, and while typing
- Skulls and chests face the correct way in first and third person, and shields, crossbows, spears, and spyglasses animate properly in first person
- Fixed light leaking and lighting artifacts in Vibrant Visuals
- Xbox P2P invites received in-game now appear in the Social Drawer
- Fixed an Android issue where searching in the Marketplace could send you back to the main menu
