Minecraft Preview 26.40.22: Sulfur Cubes Are Friendly Now
Minecraft Bedrock Preview 26.40.22 and Beta 26.40.23 are out with a mix of sulfur cube behavior changes, Vibrant Visuals fixes, and quality-of-life tweaks.
Sulfur Cube Changes
The biggest behavioral shift this build is that sulfur cubes are no longer classified as hostile mobs. They won't prevent sleep, won't trigger the Monster Hunter achievement, and conduits will no longer attack them. They can now spawn on the surface in sulfur cave biomes and spawn regardless of light level, which opens up encounters above ground for the first time.
On the fix side: magma sulfur cubes no longer deal contact damage to players wearing Frost Walker boots, sulfur cubes correctly take damage from hot sulfur cubes if they don't have a block absorbed, and they no longer destroy snow layers when spawned from a bucket.
Accessibility and UI
A new screen distortion option has been added to accessibility settings, letting you control how much the nausea effect and Nether portal transitions distort the screen. Useful for players who find the effect disorienting or want to reduce it entirely.
The fire overlay has been updated to match Java Edition: it's been rotated 45 degrees and shifted down to improve center-frame visibility. Furnace tabs have been reordered, and pressing E over the recipe search bar now inputs the letter instead of closing the screen.
Vibrant Visuals
Clouds, sun, moon, and stars now render correctly when the camera is underwater in Vibrant Visuals mode. A corrupted mob visuals bug with PBR resource packs containing heightmap textures has also been resolved.
