Minecraft BE Beta 26.30.20/21 Released
The latest Minecraft Bedrock Preview adds sulfur spikes to the Chaos Cubed lineup and brings a round of fixes to sulfur caves, the sulfur cube, and the new block sets.
Sulfur Spikes
Sulfur spikes are a new block that generates naturally inside sulfur caves, growing on cinnabar and sulfur blocks. They work similarly to pointed dripstone: place them on a ceiling and they form stalactites, on a floor they become stalagmites. You can combine them into longer formations, and stalactites and stalagmites will merge when their tips touch. Holding shift while placing prevents the merge.
Walking into sulfur spikes is harmless, but falling stalactites deal damage. The odds of one dropping are low, but not zero. Thrown tridents will also break them. They're not yet available in the creative inventory, which is a known issue being worked on.
Sulfur Caves and Cube Changes
- Sulfur caves now generate with granite and tuff mixed in alongside sulfur and cinnabar
- Spike clusters are slightly shorter on average
- The sulfur cube got updated textures, reduced health (9 to 8), and new sounds for absorbing, ejecting, and landing
- Each ball archetype now has its own unique hit and push sound
- Sulfur and cinnabar blocks received unique jump and land sounds
Known Issues
This preview has a few known problems: Beta and Preview won't work on servers due to a crash-related issue, sulfur springs aren't generating correctly in new worlds, and sulfur spikes are missing from the creative inventory. Mojang says fixes are in progress.
