Break any plain dirt block and it drops a diamond instead of dirt — one tiny JSON file, no scripts, no experiments; achievements stay on.
Dirt to Diamond for Minecraft Bedrock — every dirt block is now a diamond
Diamonds are the bottleneck in Minecraft. You dig down to Y = -59 (the best diamond level since the Caves & Cliffs update) and tunnel for ages hoping for a vein — then you find out the enchanting table wants 2 diamonds, the jukebox 1, and a pickaxe 3, before you even think about armour. Dirt to Diamond removes that whole loop from the first step: any plain dirt block you break drops a diamond instead of dirt.
What it does
- Enable the pack in your world (one Behavior Pack, nothing else).
- Walk up to any plain dirt block — the brown one you already know — and break it, by hand or with any tool.
- The block pops and a diamond drops instead of dirt.
Every time. No limit. Dig a long trench and every block in it is a diamond.
How it works:
minecraft:dirt → minecraft:diamond (x1)
That is the whole mod — nine lines, with no conditions at all (no tool requirement, no random chance). Consequences:
- No scripts — no
@minecraft/server, no tick loop, no performance cost. - No Beta APIs — the pack is data-only (
type: "data"). - No Resource Pack — no textures, no sounds.
- Achievements stay on — the pack is Achievements Friendly with no experiments.
What is affected and what is not
| Block | IDs | Result after install |
|---|---|---|
| Plain dirt | minecraft:dirt |
💎 diamond |
| Grass block | minecraft:grass_block |
vanilla dirt |
| Coarse dirt | minecraft:coarse_dirt |
vanilla dirt |
| Rooted dirt | minecraft:rooted_dirt |
vanilla dirt |
| Podzol | minecraft:podzol |
vanilla dirt |
| Mud / mycelium | minecraft:mud / minecraft:mycelium |
unchanged |
Only plain dirt changes. That is deliberate: grass, coarse dirt and podzol are building blocks with distinct colours — turning all of them into diamonds would wreck anyone's palette.
Silk Touch note
Because the loot table is replaced entirely and without conditions, Silk Touch tools also drop a diamond — not dirt. That differs from vanilla (which returns the block itself), so do not be surprised.
Practical uses
- Fast early game: diamonds before you have even built your first furnace.
- Enchanting table and a pickaxe: 2 diamonds for the table + 3 for the pickaxe = five dirt blocks.
- Jukebox and full armour: a full diamond set is 24 diamonds — impossible by normal mining, trivial with one trench.
- Building: if you build with dirt, every block pays you back a diamond.
- Superflat worlds: dirt is the base block there, so a flat world becomes a diamond mine.
- Realms and servers: no server-side script, so no lag and no security surface.
Install (under a minute)

- Achievements keep working.
FAQ
Why doesn't grass drop diamonds? Grass is a different block (grass_block); this addon only overrides the dirt table. If you want grass included too, that is a separate edition.
Does it work with other addons? Yes — unless another addon also overrides minecraft:dirt. If two packs replace the same table, only one of them is read (the one that wins the load order). If you see a conflict, enable one.
Why is nothing dropping? Check two things: the pack is actually active in that world, and doTileDrops is on. Run /gamerule doTileDrops true if it is off.
Does it disable achievements? No. The pack is data-only with no experiments, so achievements keep working.
Does it work on an existing world? Yes — enable the pack, reload the world, and every dirt block you break from then on drops a diamond. No need to create a new world.
How do I remove it? Disable or delete the pack in world settings and reload — dirt goes back to normal immediately with nothing left behind.
