Mojang has officially named the third game drop of 2026: Wilderness Bound. The update centers on the dappled forest biome and its outdoor survival theme, tying together everything we've seen in preview builds so far, from poplar trees and abandoned camps to straw beds and cushions.

Sleeping Under the Stars

Straw beds let you skip the night without changing your spawn point, crafted from just three hay bales. Mojang is framing the dappled forest as a place you actually camp in rather than pass through, with abandoned camps scattered across the terrain hinting at whoever explored the area before you. The biome itself is easy to spot thanks to its tall poplar trees in fiery red, orange, and yellow tones.

Building Your Own Camp

Once you find a clearing worth settling in, poplar wood becomes your main building material, backed up by the expanded concrete and wool block sets for decoration. Mojang's framing here is less about scale and more about atmosphere, a good camp is judged by how much you want to stay, not how big it is.

Cushions and Campfire Stories

Cushions round out the camping theme, either found inside abandoned camps or crafted from three wool slabs of matching color. Sitting around a campfire on cushions is pitched as the natural end to an exploration day, complete with sharing whatever chaos happened out in the forest, be it a mushroom parkour mishap or a rescue mission gone sideways.

Wilderness Bound doesn't have a release date yet, but based on the pattern of recent testing builds, expect it to keep moving through Preview and Beta before launching as a full update.
