Newb x Flamingo Shader
Go to files
Newb x Flamingo shader pack is a brand-new add-on for Minecraft Bedrock Edition that bathes your game in warm, pastel colors and improved lighting. Described by its creator as “an aesthetic themed shader for Bedrock Edition,” Newb x Flamingo offers a calming pink–purple color palette across skies, water, and biomes. Released in 2025 by modder Hazelntz (of other popular packs), it has quickly gained popularity with tens of thousands of downloads on CurseForge. The pack transforms vanilla visuals into a more immersive, cozy style without altering gameplay mechanics, appealing to players who prefer creative or relaxing worlds.
Key Features
- Pastel Color Palette: Soft pink and purple hues dominate the sky and lighting, giving the world a gentle, dreamlike feel. As one reviewer notes, Newb Flamingo’s “visually pleasing pink-purple design” creates a calm atmosphere while exploring.
- Dynamic Lighting Effects: Enhanced glow and reflections bring out details. Water and glass reflect the colored sky realistically, and light sources (torches, lamps) have a warm, subtle bloom that makes scenes more vibrant.
- Custom Clouds and Weather: Multiple cloud styles are available to match performance needs: default Vanilla Clouds, detailed Volumetric Clouds, rounded normal clouds, or low-overhead options like No Wave and No Fog to balance visuals and framerate.
- Cross-Platform Support: Works on Android, iOS, and Windows Bedrock Edition so friends on any device can share the same graphics.
- MB Loader Compatible: Because Bedrock doesn’t natively support shaders, Newb x Flamingo requires a patched Minecraft build or a helper such as MB Loader. The developer notes it runs on Minecraft 1.21+ using patched builds or MB Loader.
- Lightweight and Optimized: At only ~2.65 MB the pack is compact. A performance-boosted subpack (no waves, no fog) helps low-end devices maintain smooth framerates.
Gameplay Experience
Playing with Newb x Flamingo feels like stepping into a cozy, otherworldly rendition of Minecraft. Midday light takes on a gentle rose tint and nighttime skies can display soft purple horizons. Reflections on water surfaces are crisper and lighting contrast around lanterns and fires is more pronounced. The shader aims to enhance visuals without overpowering Minecraft’s style—colors pop while items and mobs remain distinct.
Compatibility & Requirements
Newb x Flamingo is made for Minecraft Bedrock Edition (mobile and Windows 10/11) on version 1.21.80 or higher. It is not compatible with Java Edition. To use it you’ll need either:
- A patched Bedrock game build (some Bedrock builds disable shaders), or
- An app like MB Loader which enables custom packs on Bedrock.
The author confirms support for recent MCPE versions via MB Loader. The pack is labeled MIT-licensed and offered for free; always download from a reputable source and verify the file integrity.
Installation Guide
- Download the pack: Obtain the newb-x-flamingo-v4.1.mcpack file (v4.1 is the latest) from a trusted site.
- Copy to Minecraft:
- Android/iOS: Unzip if needed and move the folder (named like “Newb x Flamingo”) into the games/com.mojang/resource_packs/ directory using a file manager app.
- Windows: Double-click the .mcpack file or copy it into C:\\Users\\<You>\\AppData\\Local\\Packages\\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_<…>\\LocalState\\games\\com.mojang\\resource_packs\\.
- Enable the shader: Launch Minecraft Bedrock, go to Settings > Global Resources (or the world’s resource pack menu), find Newb x Flamingo, and click Activate or Apply.
- Restart/Reload: Close and reopen your world so the shader loads fully. If using MB Loader or a special launcher, follow its prompts to enable the pack.
- Enjoy: Tweak in-game video settings (render distance, cloud style) as needed for performance.
Tip: Using a patched game or MB Loader is important for the shader to work. If visuals don’t change after installation, double-check you applied the pack and are on the correct game version.
