How do you make mods?

Hi, I’m having trouble updating the Knocker Remake in my existing world. Even after removing the old version and re-adding the new one, it still runs the older version. The recent update works fine in a new world and I can experience the new features like the knocker’s whistling for example. This update with the new features doesn’t carry over to my main world and I’m still experiencing old Knocker behaviors like his high sensitivity when staring at him.

Is there a way to fully update it without starting over?
