The main antagonist is Herobrine, who currently uses standard AI, but his presence, combined with special effects, gives the feeling of constant surveillance and imminent danger. He can appear behind glass, watch the player, and participate in various events, enhancing fear and tension.

The mod features a variety of creepy events, including burning base, where structures mysteriously catch fire, creating chaos; sleepless, a mechanic that simulates insomnia and heightens stress; jumpscare, delivering sudden terrifying appearances; and attack, where Herobrine can rarely strike the player. Other events include cursed mobs, strange creatures with abnormal and hostile behavior, despawn, where entities vanish unexpectedly, and angry, showing aggressive reactions from mobs or Herobrine.

Environmental changes add to the horror experience: torches can transform into redstone torches, and lanterns into soul lanterns, creating subtle yet eerie visual cues. The mod also includes scary sounds, which trigger unpredictably to unsettle players and maintain a constant feeling of dread.

While Herobrine’s AI remains simple for now, the combination of these events, environmental alterations, and visual effects ensures a chilling experience similar to From the Fog. From the Shadow is designed to keep players on edge, never fully safe, and always aware that something could be watching from the shadows, ready to strike.
