Classic Nether

This addon brings back the Old Nether, restoring the atmosphere and simplicity that defined this dimension in earlier versions of the game. Instead of completely rewriting the Nether, this addon focuses on one specific goal: removing the biome complexity introduced in the Nether Update 1.16 to recreate a more classic, hellish environment.

How does it achieve this? The addon removes all the new Nether biomes added in version 1.16, such as the Crimson Forest, Warped Forest, Soul Sand Valley, and Basalt Deltas. By doing so, the Nether once again becomes a vast, unified dimension rather than a patchwork of different biomes with distinct visuals and mechanics.

Importantly, this addon does not remove any of the new mobs, entities, or structures introduced in the Nether Update. Piglins, hoglins, striders, and other modern Nether mobs will still exist, along with Nether fortresses and other structures. The difference is that all of these elements now coexist within a single biome.

With this addon installed, the Nether once again features only one biome: Nether Wastes, just like in older versions of Minecraft. However, unlike the original Old Nether, this biome is now inhabited by the current Nether mobs, including piglins and the rest of the Nether’s hostile creatures, blending classic world generation with modern gameplay mechanics.

The result is a Nether that feels more oppressive, chaotic, and hellish, evoking nostalgia for older versions while still benefiting from the content and improvements of newer updates. This addon is perfect for players who miss the classic Nether experience but don’t want to give up modern features.
