Do you want barracudas in Minecraft? Well, if this is the case then, this add-on is for you! It adds barracuda to Minecraft's oceans. A barracuda is a large, predatory, ray-finned, saltwater fish of the genus Sphyraena, the only genus in the family Sphyraenidae, which was named by Constantine Samuel Rafinesque in 1815.[2] It is found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide ranging from the eastern border of the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea, on its western border the Caribbean Sea, and in tropical areas of the Pacific Ocean. Barracudas reside near the top of the water and near coral reefs and sea grasses.[3] Barracudas are often targeted by sport-fishing enthusiasts.

Barracudas are based on the great barracuda, and are light grey in color, with a dark grey dorsal side, grey stripes running across its flanks, reddish-brown fins, and yellow eyes.

Barracudas will usually not attack players at first, and, when undisturbed, will swim around aimlessly in a similar manner to fish; however, if a player provokes them or wears chainmail, iron, gold, or diamond armor near them, they will attack. When attacking, they will rapidly charge at targets, leaving off a wake of bubbles while charging and dealing 2.5 hearts (5 HP) of damage upon ramming into them; after this attack, they will proceed to attack their foe normally, dealing 1 heart (2 HP) of damage on contact, and will continue to attack until the player kills them, dies, or runs away.

In addition to targeting players that wear armor made of shiny material, barracudas will also occasionally prey on any aquatic mob, with the exception of other barracudas. This behavior is influenced by how hungry they are.

Predator Hunger

Predator Hunger
Upon spawning, this predatory mob will have an initial hunger defined by the sum of 10 and a random number (from 0-49); every second, this hunger goes up by a single number. In addition to this, it has a hunger threshold of 80; this threshold is vital for its effective hunger, which is 0 when below the threshold and equal to the difference between the hunger and the threshold when above it. If the effective hunger is greater than or equal to 100, the mob will immediately attack a prey animal; otherwise, its chance of predation is determined by the quotient of 1 and the difference between 100 and its effective hunger.

Barracudas can be caught by using a water bucket on them; when this bucket is used on a block, it immediately empties, placing a source of water with the barracuda inside of it.

If a barracuda gets beached on land, it will start suffocating after 20 seconds. While on land, barracudas will flop around erratically in an attempt to get back into the water.
