HartMods — Hart Logistics
Compact storage automation. Intelligent sorting. Persistent item routing. Now with full redstone control.
Tired of building enormous redstone sorting systems just to organize your storage?
Hart Logistics brings compact, automated item management to Minecraft Bedrock with three purpose-built blocks: the Hart Sorter, Hart Collector, and Hart Receiver.
Build anything from a simple chest sorter to an automated storage network that transports items between distant parts of your world — without miles of hopper chains or replacing your vanilla storage system.
Designed for Minecraft Bedrock Dedicated Server, with multiplayer support, persistent asynchronous transport, and redstone-aware automation.
📦 Three Blocks. One Logistics System.
🔹 Hart Sorter — Compact Item Sorting
A complete item sorter in a single block.
Place a Hart Sorter beneath a vanilla hopper, configure its filter, and let it handle the routing.
- Accepts items from the hopper directly above.
- Filters by matching item type.
- Leave the filter empty for wildcard / catch-all operation.
- Sends matching items into compatible storage or a Hart Collector.
- Configure filters from the rear service face.
- Supports dense multi-Sorter storage arrays.
- Activatable items such as Ender Pearls and Wind Charges can safely be used as filters.
- Power the Sorter with redstone to pause that individual Sorter.
Multiple Sorters can service the same hopper column, so disabling one does not have to stop the rest of the sorting line.
No bulky comparator/filter circuits required.
🔹 Hart Collector — Remote Item Collection
The entry point for persistent remote transport.
Hart Collectors gather accepted items and forward them into a linked Receiver's persistent queue.
- Accepts continuous input from vanilla Hoppers.
- Accepts items directly from a Hart Sorter.
- Captures items actually ejected toward it by vanilla Droppers and Dispensers.
- Supports multiple Collectors linked to one Receiver.
- Transfers eligible stackable items asynchronously.
- Removes the need for long-distance physical hopper chains.
- Power the Collector with redstone to pause ingress.
Droppers and Dispensers retain their normal vanilla behavior: Hart Logistics does not siphon their stored inventory. Only items they actually eject toward a Collector enter the logistics network.
🔹 Hart Receiver — Persistent Remote Delivery
Your items, delivered where you need them.
Hart Receivers own the persistent queue used by linked Collectors and deliver queued items into a vanilla hopper directly below.
- Persistent asynchronous delivery queue.
- Capacity of 250,000 queued items per Receiver.
- Multiple Collectors can feed a single Receiver.
- Source and destination do not need to be loaded at the same time.
- Queue state survives server restarts and reloads.
- Power the Receiver with redstone to pause unloading.
While a Receiver is powered, its output is paused, but its persistent queue can continue accepting normal remote ingress. Remove power and unloading resumes automatically.
🔴 Redstone Control
Hart Logistics is designed to work with vanilla redstone rather than bypass it.
Power the Hart blocks
- Powered Hart Sorter → that Sorter stops claiming items.
- Powered Hart Collector → new ingress pauses.
- Powered Hart Receiver → queue unloading pauses.
Redstone state is a live control, not a saved operating mode. Remove power and the block resumes automatically — no relinking or reconfiguration required.
Powered vanilla hoppers are hard gates
Hart Logistics also respects the vanilla hopper lock.
If a relevant hopper is powered:
- a hopper feeding a Collector will not be drained by Hart Logistics;
- a hopper above a Sorter column will not be manipulated by the Sorters;
- a hopper below a Receiver will not receive Receiver output.
This makes ordinary redstone useful for:
- maintenance shutdowns;
- overflow control;
- staged unloading;
- temporarily isolating part of a storage network;
- stopping one sorting destination while allowing others to continue.
🏗️ Example Builds
Compact Storage Sorter
Input Hopper → Hart Sorter → Chest / Barrel
A compact alternative to traditional redstone item filters.
Remote Farm Collection
Farm Output → Hopper → Hart Collector
Persistent Queue → Hart Receiver → Hopper → Storage
Collect resources from a remote farm and deliver them to central storage.
The Receiver does not have to be loaded when the Collector accepts the items.
Centralized Sorting Network
Input Hopper → Hart Sorter → Hart Collector
Persistent Queue → Hart Receiver → Storage
Combine local item filtering with persistent remote transportation.
Remote Overflow
Input Hopper → Unfiltered Hart Sorter → Hart Collector
Persistent Queue → Overflow Receiver → Storage
An empty Sorter acts as a wildcard, making it easy to create a remote catch-all destination for everything that did not match an earlier filter.
Design tip: Avoid routing a Receiver's output back into a Collector linked to the same Receiver, as this can create a routing loop.
⚡ Why Hart Logistics?
Compact by design
Replace large sorting installations with individual configurable blocks.
Vanilla-friendly
Your hoppers, chests, barrels, and storage rooms remain the visible storage system. Hart Logistics adds routing intelligence around them instead of replacing them with a separate digital inventory.
Persistent asynchronous transport
Collectors can queue items for a Receiver even when the destination area is unloaded.
Natural backpressure
If a Receiver queue fills or downstream storage cannot accept more items, the system backs up naturally rather than silently deleting items.
Redstone-aware
Pause individual Sorters, stop Collector ingress, halt Receiver unloading, or lock the vanilla hoppers themselves.
Built for large worlds
Hart Logistics uses persistent, paged queue storage designed for long-running servers and large logistics networks.
Multiplayer ready
Collector selection/linking and simultaneous player configuration have been tested in multiplayer.
🚀 Persistent Queue System
Each Hart Receiver provides a persistent queue with room for up to:
250,000 items
Hart Logistics 1.3.1 uses a compact paged and deduplicated queue format designed to dramatically reduce persistent world-state overhead while preserving FIFO routing behavior.
Existing Hart Logistics worlds upgrade automatically.
🛠️ Crafting Recipes
All recipes are shapeless and available through the Minecraft recipe book.
| Block | Ingredients |
|---|---|
| Hart Sorter | Hopper + Comparator + Redstone Dust + Iron Ingot |
| Hart Collector | Hopper + Ender Pearl + Redstone Dust + Copper Ingot |
| Hart Receiver | Hopper + Ender Pearl + Redstone Dust + Gold Ingot |
🧰 Operator Diagnostics
Server operators can use:
/hartlogistics:status
This read-only command reports information including:
- registered Sorters;
- Collector and Receiver counts;
- persistent queue totals;
- queue storage footprint;
- largest Receiver queue;
- lifetime received/delivered totals;
- transfer journal status.
The command does not alter routing, links, filters, or queue contents.
🔄 Upgrading
Hart Logistics is designed to preserve existing worlds across updates.
The public branding is HartMods — Hart Logistics, while the original technical namespace is intentionally retained for compatibility:
hartsorter:sorterhartsorter:collectorhartsorter:receiver
Existing placed blocks, filters, Collector/Receiver links, and supported persistent queue data are preserved during supported upgrades.
For 1.3.1, update both the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack.
⚠️ Important Notes
- Persistent queue transport is intentionally conservative. Items that cannot be safely serialized and reconstructed are left upstream rather than risking loss of item metadata.
- Vanilla hopper throughput can become the limiting factor downstream of a Receiver.
- A farm/source area still needs to be loaded and ticking to actually produce items. The Receiver destination does not need to be loaded while those items are being queued.
- Avoid creating routing loops between a Receiver and Collectors feeding the same network.
🎮 Compatibility
