Furious Madness

So. If you’re on this page, then I’m very glad! This means that my addon has caught your interest.

I’ll say right away that this add-on was inspired by an old mod for the Java edition of Minecraft called “Red Death” (formerly “28 weeks later”). This mod has been abandoned at the moment, and the developer has even released the source code.

In addition, I was inspired by the game Left 4 Dead 2. The Furious Infected sounds were taken from there.

So, we’ve been talking too much. Let’s finally get to my add‑on.

What is Furious Madness?

Furious Madness is an add‑on that adds Furious Infected who are ready to destroy everything that moves. They attack not only the player — they attack zombies, skeletons, endermen — everyone! (Exceptions are boats, minecarts, etc.)

When chasing their prey, they make furious sounds. If they are on fire, they will scream and rush in all directions in pain. But even that won’t stop them — upon seeing their prey, they will forget that they are on fire and run after it.

Furious Infected are attacking a sheep.

They can see their victim from a distance of 48 blocks. Once they reach the victim, they strike them, splattering blood. Their damage is 3 units. They apply a weakening effect for 3 seconds.

Their speed is 0.4 units (which is equal to the player’s running speed). Despite this, it’s quite easy to escape from them if you’re on uneven surfaces.

By the way, do you think you can escape from them by building a pillar? Well, you’re wrong. They can climb walls like spiders. And to top it off, they can open doors.

They spawn very frequently, everywhere and always (the exception is the Nether and the End), both at night and during the day, and even in a cave. They spawn in groups of 3 to 6 individuals.

Despite all of the above, they have only 12 health points.

Steve, Alex, Ari, Efe, Kai, Makena, Noor, Sunny, Zuri.

The game features 9 skin variations, as well as 2 sound options. Steve and Alex always emit male and female voices, respectively. As for the other skins (Ari, Kai, Efe, Makena, Noor, Sunny, Zuri), they can spawn with both male and female voices (I made this decision because it’s hard to determine the gender on some skins, and according to Minecraft canon, all skins are gender‑neutral).

In reality, the add-on looks simple from a player's perspective. However, because I'm a massive perfectionist when it comes to both code and textures, I spent 5 days straight working on it.

I highly recommend downloading this add-on and seeing it for yourself. If you like it, you should play it with friends— it’s a blast, though a massive horde of Furious Infected will definitely get on your nerves.
