At first, you will deal 0 damage, and only one damage with any tool. However, like other stats, this can be upgraded, and with each upgrade, your damage increases by 1, up to 20 additional damage. Overall being the most expensive to upgrade (starting from Level 5, to make the early levels of this more xp-friendly), costing a total of 300 total levels to max out. It is all worth it to max out, however. As with your strength stats maxed out, you can deal 34 damage with a Sharpness 5 netherite sword.
